Greetings golfers, 

Where do I start? From Jason Day annihilating the field in the BMW Championship to Diego Costa's game-winning performance against Arsenal to Japan causing the biggest upset of World Cup history against the Springboks. All are endless talking points, but none come close to the controversy and tears witnessed on the final day of the Solheim Cup. It was the 17th green at St. Leon-Rot GC on Sunday morning where Team USA, made up of Alison Lee and Brittany Lincicome, had a 15-foot birdie putt to take a 1 up lead going on to the final hole. Ms Lee ran her attempt past the cup and, without checking, scooped the ball away with her putter under the assumption that Team Europe, made up of Suzann Pettersen and Charley Hull, had conceded the putt with Ms Hull walking off the green towards her playing partner. However, Pettersen was adamant that this was not the case and after the match referee intervened, Team Europe won the hole as Team USA never 'finished', meaning Europe took a 1 up lead going down the last. Team Europe won the final hole for a 2 up win, which was followed by heated discussions around the green as Ms Lee and Ms Hull were reduced to tears. 

Team USA ultimately used this incident as their motivation to turn around a 10-6 deficit going into the singles, securing a 14.5 - 13.5 victory. But the 2015 Solheim Cup will always be remembered for 'that' incident on the 17th green, something which threatens to cast a shadow over the game of golf. And although I am not defending Pettersen's decision, it must be remembered that she did warn Ms Lee a couple of times the day before for picking up the ball too soon!

  

TaylorMade M1 Launch Night - Monday 28th September

We are excited to announce the upcoming arrival of the brand new TaylorMade M1 driver. Not only did the new world number 1, Jason Day, put the driver straight in the bag but in its first week on Tour it was the most used driver on Tour. 

So what is so good about this new TaylorMade driver? 

There is a new carbon composite crown that allows weight to be saved and moved into the sole of the club for maximum ball speed. The new T-Track system in the sole of the club allows multiple settings of draw, straight or fade and high, medium and low spin settings. 

There will be lofts of 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degrees and two head models at 430cc and 460cc.

Just a quick reminder that the course is CLOSED on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th October due to the North Region PGA Championship that is being hosted by ourselves. 

Also, another reminder that from Monday 5th October the golf shop will be opening at 7am, with first tee time being 7.25am, and will be closing at 6pm Monday through Sunday.
