Trinity Hospice Trophy 

The first trophy of the Mens and Ladies season was up for grabs last weekend, in the Trinity Hospice Trophy. This is a trophy we play for every year and was sponsored and trophy provided by past member Bob Hutchinson. This is an extremely worthwhile cause, and for every entry, £1 was given to the charity. Bob then doubles whatever is paid into it. We raised £160 on the day. The winner this year was Daryl Prance, who quite literally cantered to a win with a stunning nett 64. Believe it or not, Daryl had a wobble coming down the infamous last 3, when he triple bogeyed the 16th and 17th but held his nerve to complete the 18th hole for victory. Colin MacDonald kept up his terrific early season form with a nett 68 to come in 2nd place. Please see full results on www.howdidido.co.uk or see the members board at the club.

Herons teams in hot pursuit of league top spots 

There has been great starts made by all of our league teams this season, with the ladies playing well, the seniors team beating Ashton & Lea 10-2 away from home and the mens handicap team grabbing an early top spot after 3 games. These have all been impressive wins by the team, beating Royal Lytham 3-2 away, Knott End 4-1 at home and on Tuesday night they beat North Shore 4-1 away. I must also report yet another hole in one for one of our members! Andy Baird aced the 9th hole at North Shore to take a commanding lead into that game in which he and Peter Morgan won 6&5.

   

Great results from all of the teams and good luck with the rest of the season! I will report every few weeks on their progress. 

Captains Day 

Just a quick reminder about Captains Day that is coming up on Saturday 13th July. Places in the morning are now limited, so please book soon. Stableford format for the day, and don't forget that you need 5 competition cards in this calendar to win the event (ladies - 3 cards). We are also hosting a Srixon ball fitting day, where one of our Professionals, Sam Mellor will be at the back of the 18th green doing a FREE ball fit for all entrants, and we will give you a FREE sleeve of balls of the ones Sam fits you best with. All you have to do is register in the competition.
