Captain's Trip to Carden Park

The Captain has had his away trip to Carden Park and despite the poor forecast, the golfing gods shined down nicely. A little bit of rain on Sunday and lovely calm, sunny weather on the Monday.

Everyone had a good time and a good laugh which is what it’s all about. The winners kindly donated the prize money to the Captains Charity which went down well. Don’t forget it’s the presentation night this Saturday. We hope you all have a good time at what will be a great evening’s entertainment.

Slow and Easy...

I quite often get asked, “What is the key to consistent shots?”

Now there are many reasons for this and why you might not achieve it. One thing is for sure though, all good golfers have excellent tempo and rhythm and I would always encourage you to work on that aspect of your game. Think of Ernie Else and how he swings, slow and easy!

How do you do this? Well, you won’t get it by trying to launch the ball out the back of the range, it requires a calm relaxed mentality and feeling you are only using 80% of your Physical strength to hit the ball. Try it you might surprise yourself.

They've done it again

Without further ado, let us introduce TaylorMade’s scintillating Milled Grind 2 wedge and look at why it's such a good option to be putting in the scoring part of your bag.

Now this wedge is quite unique. It's all to do with Raw Face Technology, which increases spin and feel compared with the original Milled Grind.

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters, Odyssey's EXO Stroke Lab Marxman putter is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying.
