This year's Members Away Day is at Carus Green on Monday 26th August.

Come along for 18 holes of golf, a one course meal, a tea/coffee and a bacon roll.

Improve your putting one step at a time

I have talked to a number of golfers recently who are struggling with putting. I have said to all of them that you have to work on one thing at a time.

So, if you're not getting the pace or line right, work on pace first as this has the biggest impact on how many putts you have. One of the biggest causes of poor distance control is tension in the hands and arms.

Next time you come down to practice try this little drill. Set yourself up and when ready to take your stroke close your eyes and open only after the stroke is finished. This will improve your consistency of distance very quickly.

Time for a little reflection

Who doesn’t love the month of June? Long evenings, blistering sunshine (might be a little optimistic here) and plenty of opportunities to hit the course. With much of the season left to go and more competitions on the horizon, it’s time to take note of how you’ve been playing so far this year.

Scenario 1

Hopefully, you've been playing regularly to your handicap or, better still, shooting under it. If that’s the case then happy days, keep up the good work!

But we all know there’s room for improvement.

Perhaps you don’t use a particular club as often as you could simply out of a lack of confidence with it? Or maybe you’re struggling with a destructive shot that is impacting your scores?
