As the season draws to an exciting climax
Our golfing season may be closing in on us, but we still have exciting and nervy times ahead for some of our members as we enter the finals of the club knockouts, and also there are only weeks left before we know our Summer League champion and All Winners Trophy champion!
Congratulations goes to Jeff Park, who has made it through to the Singles and Doubles KO Finals, along with playing partner Andy Baird. He will face Ian Bullock in the singles Final, with Chris Prewett and Matt Mustow to face in the Doubles.
In the Mixed Knockout Final, Carolyn Coleman and Tim Vickers, both in their first full season with us, will face seasoned campaigners Jill Davidson and Dave Neville. Jill and Dave have been members a number of years now, so maybe that experience will help them?
Good luck to all playing in the Finals and we look forward to presenting you with the trophies next month.
The Summer League is also coming to its end, with just 2 events left in this season long competition. Your best 5 nett medal scores throughout the season are added together and forms a league table. Top 3 places win prizes, and the current crop fighting that out are -
1. Justin Hatcher 346
2. David Nelligan 353
3. Neil Crilly 354
4. Robert Nicholas 354
5. Norman Heywood 356
A full list can be found on the members board, to see where you stand. There is also a copy on our howdidido.co.uk website.
Winter League
Mens' Winter League entries are now being taken in the golf shop. The format is slightly changing this year and we are going with a team better ball format. Choose a partner as normal and the fixtures will be drawn out over the season. These are played on Sunday mornings throughout the winter. There will be a maximum of 16 teams in the league, so be quick to enter.
Better ball format off ¾ handicap, and your teams best 7 scores from the (potential) 15 weeks will count towards your score. Full details can be found on the members board outside the golf shop. Entries close on Sunday 12th October, with the first game scheduled for the 19th Oct.
Ladies, please see the golf shop for further details on the Ladies version.
Ladies Team
As we reported a couple of weeks ago, the Ladies team had done amazingly well in getting into the Finals of Lancashire Ladies Handicap Shield. This was played at Davyhulme Park in Manchester on the 9th September. They played in the Semi-Finals and were agonisingly beaten in a playoff would you believe! 5 matches played and the final pairing had to go down to extra holes to decide who went through to the Final, and it unfortunately didn't swing our way. Congratulations to the Ladies Team though on what is a fantastic achievement and a great end to the season in getting to Finals Day.
Wrap up for Winter
The new Autumn/Winter range has just landed into the shop this week, and there are some great pieces to keep you warm and dry throughout the Winter months. New stock from Nike, Galvin Green and adidas with more to follow. Come in and take a look…..
