First up, the seniors team. Who have been on somewhat of a role recently, please see below for match reports. The following report refers to the matches played in Weeks 11 and 12 of the FSGL Season. In Week 10 Herons’ Reach were in 4th position with 55 points having played 7 matches. After all other Teams had played their scheduled matches in Week 12 Herons’ Reach was in 1st position with 76 points with a match in hand.
Captain’s Match Report – Away at Knott End GC – Won 5&1 I still have some superlatives to describe our continued winning mode – Super! Smashing! Great! Keep it up Team. In one fell swoop we leap frogged Knott End GC today, putting ourselves in good standing for a ‘battle royal’ in the latter group of matches. We still have matches in hand, but don’t go counting chickens; keep smelling the flowers. Dare I say it was a bit embarrassing to give Knott End a resounded beating on their home course. The home match against Knott End GC is scheduled for Thursday 20 July 2017, first tee-time will be 10:05 hours. I’m sure they will be having a ‘pow-wow’ and will want to embarrass us next week – it’s not going to happen! Knott End Captain (John Flowers) has expressed there will be a change in his team next week, but didn’t elaborate who would be changed.
Captain’s Match Report – Home to Knott End GC – Won 5 ½ to ½ Gentlemen! Well! What can I say, words almost fail me; what a dazzling performance you should feel very proud of yourselves, what another splendid result! If, as I suspected last week, that they would have a ‘pow-wow’ to discuss how to embarrass us, it didn’t work. I’m in awe of the effort you are contributing to the well-being of the Team. Whatever your rhythm is, whatever flowers you are smelling, keep it up. With respect to the announced amendment to their team; they must have a very good pool of players cos (sic) they replaced an 11 handicapper with another 11 handicapper, but that didn’t deter Jimmy and Dennis, oh no! Jimmy and Dennis were determined not to be beaten and won 5&4. Remember your battle cry! No Dennis McC, it is not ‘count your chickens’! ‘Don’t worry, don’t hurry and remember to smell the flowers along the way.’
Look forward to our Home match against Fairhaven GC Our match against Fairhaven GC is scheduled for Thursday 27 July 2017, first tee-time will be 10:05 (Tea/ Coffee will be available from 09:15 hours). Keeping with the seniors, there is plenty of action down at Fairhaven today with our boys defending seemingly all of the trophies on offer. Seniors League Team Captain Allen Artis is defending the Len Hall Trophy Allen Artis, Dennis McCullough and Tony Williams are defending champions of the Roy Whitehead Trophy (Team competition) Finally good luck to Bruce Laing and John Bostock who are in the final for the Bernard Butler Trophy which just alluded them last year! Let’s hope they bring home the silverware.
