Trinity Hospice Trophy
We start this week with a round up of the weekend's competitions for the men's & ladies' sections with both sections were playing for the Trinity Hospice Trophy. The weather was relatively kind but those teeing off early morning certainly had the best of the conditions. The winners from the respective sections were Steve Lynn who had a fantastic 75 gross and Carol Barker with a nett 73. Well done to the both of you!
Here's A Date For Your Diary
Saturday 15th July will see the Men's Blue Tee Trophy played. As always the Blue Tee competitions provide a much tougher test and there are always some 'interesting' scores coming in. It would be great to see a really strong turnout again. Remember, as it is a board competition you will need to have 5 qualifying cards in so far this season in order to be eligible to win.
How Strong Is Your Practice Routine?
Head Teaching Professional & Qualified NLP (Neuro Linguistic Practitioner) Richard Bowman gives you an insight into how a solid practice routine can help lower your scores. A structured routine is key to consistent golf.
Most golfers will have some sort of routine, it's just that they are not conscious of it and therefore it has no meaning at times and can, and will, change dependant on the situation e.g. when under pressure, that first or final tee shot or key putt.
I recommend that you make a conscious notable effort on exactly how you approach your golf shots, number of club waggles, number of looks at the target, practice swings etc. This will most certainly support you in changing golfing conditions throughout your round. If you observe the best players in the world, they all have a personal process that is comfortable to them which allows them to perform at the highest level.

Men's Handicap Team Win Again Vs Knott End GC
Last Tuesday saw the Men's Handicap Team take on Knott End G.C. The Handicap Team have a great record against Knott End this year having won the previous two matches against them and Tuesday was no different. Looking to make the home advantage count Herons' ran out 4-1 winners to move up the league standings.
The team also have a game in hand and another good win would see them climb towards the top three places. If you happen to have a spare hour or so on a Tuesday evening then why not come down to Herons' Reach and support the team.
Herons' Reach GC FSGL Team Report
The Team won 5&1 on both occasions against Fleetwood GC. 10 points from each match will certainly help our cause to climb the League Table. Prior to the away match we were joint 3rd and prior to the home match we were 2nd. After the away match Allen (Capt) and Dennis were encouraged to pull their socks up. Pulling them a little higher may have helped them to win; however, they did achieve a gentlemen's half at the home match.
The other winning combinations at Fleetwood (away) were: Dave and Bob - won 2&1; Jimmy and Dennis - won 7&6; Brian and Tommy - won 3&2; Geoff and John - won 5&4; Bruce and John - won 5&3.
The winning combinations at Herons' Reach (home) were: Dave and Bob - won 5&4; Jimmy and Dennis - won 5&4; Brian and Tommy - won 8&7; Geoff and John - won 6&4.
One of the surprises of the day was seeing Tommy and Brian walking off with big broad smiles. No wonder. They had won 8&7! But don't let us get ahead of ourselves, there are still a good number of matches to play. Remember: "Don't hurry, don't worry and remember to smell the flowers on the way."
We now look forward to the away match against Blackpool Park GC. The away match against Blackpool Park is scheduled for Tuesday 27 June 2017 with first tee-time at 11:00am (Tea/ Coffee will be available from 10:15am). The Team has a few alterations to accommodate the availability of the members.
