Saturday Washout!
Unfortunately, the great British summer put a stop to Captain's Day at the weekend meaning that the competition will be rescheduled for later in the season, so watch this space. The inclement weather also put a stop to handicap fixtures across the Fylde coast with the men's Handicap team fixture away to St. Annes Old Links also being postponed until a later date.
Lockers
We are currently in the process of re-barrelling some of the lockers in the changing rooms. If your locker has had a new barrel fitted then you will see a sign on the locker door. Please come and pick your new key up from the golf shop.
This will be an ongoing process over the next few months until we have all lockers done.
3 Ways To Improve Your Putting
1) Get your eyes over the ball.
To check if your eyes are over the ball try this at home, stand so your head is against a wall and the toe end of the putter is against the skirting board. If this feels strange then you do not stand with your eyes over the ball.
2) Don't look for the ball.
One of the most common mistakes golfers make is looking to see if they have holed the putt to soon. Finish the stroke before you look to see the result.
3) Nice smooth stroke.
Too many golfers have a snatchy stroke, normally caused by the wrong length of backswing to follow through ratio. Your follow through should always be longer than your backswing.

Club MOT
When was the last time you had your golf clubs checked for loft & lie angles?
Did you know that if you play with forged clubs, then over the course of 12 months the lofts and lies can move up to 4 degrees! This can lead to poor ball striking, off centre hits and inconsistent distances. Why not pop down and let our resident PGA Professional Jon Haines check them out for FREE!
If they require altering then we can do this onsite for you. (T&C's Apply. Please ask in the Golf Shop for details.)

The Second Major of the Year
Erin Hills takes centre stage this week as the US Open rolls into town for the very first time.
It's probably the closest course America has to a links course we see every year at The Open with its tremendously undulating greens and fairways, not to mention the ridiculous 8,100 yardage from the back tees. Be sure to click on our Video of the Week here to view the course for yourself.
So who's in with a chance of winning? Well, accuracy off the tee is going to be paramount; not just to give the pros the best opportunity to hit the right portion of the green, but also because if they're two yards wide of the fairway then they're sure to be hacking out sideways from the two-feet tall rough.
Reigning champion Dustin Johnson is the unsurprising favourite heading into the week having been in incredible from with three wins already this year. Can you see past the world number one?
