Men's Winter League

After the 1st competition with double points, as expected we have seen some changes to the league table! Daryl Prance has now shot into top spot with his fantastic 44 points on just 17 holes. This doubled to 88 gives him a total of 254, 8 clear of Jason Evans on 246. The biggest mover this week saw Steve Lynn move from mid-table mediocrity into 5th place! Goes to show to everyone, regardless of where you are in the league, that things are possible if you hit top form at the right time!

A total of 41 members made the "cut" of 5 competitions before the end of January, and a full league table can be found on the member's board outside the pro shop. The date for the Semi-Finals and Final will be Sunday, 19 March and Monday, 20 March. Keep those dates in mind as you approach the top 4! The venue will be revealed next week.

Ladies Winter League

With the Ladies Winter League just 4 weeks away from completion, it seems our Lady Captain has it all but won! 5 very good scores has seen Rita pull 18 points clear of the chasing pack and with no double points on offer like in the Men's Section, she will be very hard to catch! Below is the current top 5 and you can find a full list on the Ladies noticeboard. 

  

Condition Update

As I'm sure you are all aware, with the weather being so poor over the past 3-4 weeks, the course is extremely wet.

We had to close the 16th hole last weekend due to these conditions and this will remain closed for all of this week. If the forecast is correct and we get more rain, then please do not be surprised to see a few more holes closed through the week.

If I could also please ask all members to stick to the paths wherever possible, even if it means walking a little further. Furthermore, please leave your trolley on the paths when walking to the green as none of us need our full bag and trolley right next to the green when putting.

Please respect these measures as they are for all member's benefit and the long term condition of the course.

 

The votes have been counted and verified…

Each month we run a poll on our website which is focused around the hottest topics in the golfing world. In January we asked you to cast your vote as to who you think will end 2017 as the World Number one. We were expecting a close contest between Day, Dustin and McIlroy to name but a few, but this was far from what we got. In the end Rory McIlroy was your overwhelming favourite to end 2017 as the world’s best player with 48% of the vote – that’s nearly three times as much as second-placed Dustin Johnson!

For February we have something a little different lined up for you. You’ll be well aware that new product for 2017 has been sweeping through the gates and onto the shelves here in the shop in recent weeks, but we want to know which of these releases has got you most excited.
