It's a double knockout! 

Last week saw two of our most decorated members go head to head in the BlackTax/Gazette Matchplay Final which was held at Penina Golf Resort, Portugal. Justin Hatcher & Brad Sarjantson played out a memorable final to which Justin edged out fellow Herons' member, Brad Sarjantson. This is a fantastic achievement from both players to reach the final, which comprised of 128 players at the start of the season. I think it is also a first to have one of our members to get into a final… and then we have 2 in the same final! Congratulations to both of them on what must have been a fantastic experience. 

The last of the two trophies were played out last week, in the Singles Knockout final and the Doubles Final too. In the singles, Steve Knight came out on top against Rob Shore and in the doubles, Steve Lynn & Andy Newell were victorious over the pairing of John Astbury & Ian Crossland. This leads me nicely on to our Presentation Night, which will be held on Saturday 12th November 2016. It will start at 7.30pm through to midnight and as well as the presentation itself, there will be a hot buffet served, with entertainment on until the late hours. More details will follow in the next newsletter. Tickets will be available from the Captains and also from the shop.

 

Ladies News Carolyn Coleman and Louise O'Keeffe qualified to play in the PING 4BBB National Final at Gainsborough GC. They came 14th out of 50 pairs - a great achievement. Pat Moston came out on top in the first of 2 final weekends. Pat won the EWGA All Winners medal competition. 

The last ladies final of the year, the Sue Phillipon Trophy, went to Louise O'Keeffe, which another great year for what could be said as the most consistent lady golfer in the club.
