Portugal bound for Justin and Brad!
Well another year and another trip to Portugal for Brad Sarjantson in the Blackpool Gazette Matchplay Tournament! And he was joined by serial winner Justin Hatcher on the plane there! There were in total, 3 Herons' members that made it through to the quarter finals at Shaw Hill Golf Club last week, with the 3rd member being Matt Tyson who unfortunately didn't get through to the Semi-Finals in Portugal, being played at the end of this month. Congratulations to all 3 of them to make it as far as they did and good luck to Brad and Justin in the semi-finals and hopefully final in Portugal!
Autumn / Winter - new lines!

Dustin "captures" win with his Spider
Dustin Johnson was at his imperious best again with a win in last week's BMW Championship which puts him 1st in the Fed-Ex Cup standings. This, along with his US Open win already caps an incredible season for him. But he has backed himself to better himself even further with the introduction of a new putter in his bag this week… The TaylorMade Spider putter has long been a favourite for World number one Jason Day, but Johnson put his into great effect at the first time of asking!
The Spider putter is a face balanced putter, with peripheral weighting, allowing for the smoothest of strokes. This helps massively with those 4 to 10 foot putts. This year we will be changing the format of the Winter League, due to lack of interest in the doubles matchplay event we have held in the past. There has been numerous reasons given for this, so this is the new format -
All members are eligible to "enter" this event. There is no entry fee and works like the Summer League has. It will be ran in conjunction with the Winter fixtures on a Wednesday and Saturdays and the 8 best stableford scores will be recorded over the Winter in a league format. We will then have a "double points" run through February with the top 4 determined at the end of this. The top 4 will then go into a matchplay "playoff" to determine the winner of the Winter League.
The semi-finals and finals will be played at an away course (TBC) to determine the winner, during March.
Just to add, the Winter Fixture List is now out and available to view and to pick up a copy at the club this week.
