A fantastic Senior moment
Well, I have been reporting on this great league run from our Seniors Golf team for a few weeks now. But we can finally say - Herons' Reach, Fylde Senior League Champions 2016!! A fantastic achievement for a section that was close to packing in team golf through lack of players or interest in wanting to commit to playing. But credit must go to Club Captain Allen Artis, who at the beginning of the season, wrote to every eligible member and pursued them all in the interest of at least getting a full side out every week.
Well, Allens' persistence paid off big time, to get the team from mid table mediocrity to League Champions! I wouldn't say it was quite a Leicester City moment, but it is up there!!

Alastair has a new sponsor…..
With Alastair leaving us this week, I thought he best have another sponsor other than Nike on his last day and with Lee Westwood getting selected for the Ryder Cup, I thought it fitting to get him kitted out in the Dunlop "Westwood Collection". He wasn't best pleased at his new uniform for the day, but the members and staff alike thought it most attractive!
Again we wish Alastair all the best in his future endeavours, and we are now in the process of gathering new applicants and interviewing for the vacant Head Professional job.
In the meantime though, we still have the capabilities for custom fitting in the suite down on the driving range and we also have limited space for lessons with Professional and Director of Golf, Richard Bowman.
September Fixtures
So with the last "unofficial" month of the season, it is a busy one with the final instalments of the trophy hunt continuing this Saturday, 3 September, with the Herons' Reach Trophy, a better ball event. Then on to the penultimate trophy of the season, the only midweek trophy, the Ross Bain Memorial Trophy on Wednesday, 14 September.
This brings us on to the final trophy of the season, the All Winners Trophy, played on 24 September. This is firstly a medal event but also anyone who has had the lowest score of the competition throughout the season (one player per competition) is eligible to win the trophy.
Along with the finals of the Knockouts and Summer League to conclude, it is a month of competitions not to be missed!
Finally, dates of the Presentation Night will be published soon, so please ask your friends and family to come along for what is a great night of celebration!! I will report on this in next week's newsletter.
