Greetings golfers, 

Well after a fantastic weekend of sunshine, it seems Summer is back on track…Though I don't think the members that played in the first handicap team match last Tuesday night thought so!! Though they struggled in the wind and rain, the team managed to pick up a 3-2 win away at Old Links in the Cockerill Cup 1st round. A fantastic result, and especially so as it is in a Greensomes format which we don't play to often at the club. The seniors teams and ladies teams have also started strongly this year, with the ladies winning away at Fairhaven in their first team match, and the seniors beating North Shore at home - last year's champions!! Let's hope all the teams can keep it going in the season ahead.

 

Saturdays Competition this week is the Help for Heroes Qualifier, where ultimately it is a Stableford qualifier (and of course a fundraiser for the troops past and present) then it is also converted into a "team" event, where the top 5 scorers on the day have their Stableford scores added together and put into a formula which gives them their team score. If this score proves to be a good one over the country, then the 5 members will be put forward to play in the National Finals! This is both for men and ladies (separate competitions).

Herons' Club Early Off Peak Trial Offer 

As the members that play in the Wednesday competitions on a weekly basis, we know that it can get pretty busy during the "off peak" and "twilight" periods of the day (after 3pm). So to try and alleviate the space available, I am doing a trial offer over the next 2 Wednesdays, where the off peak points will start from 1pm. Hopefully, then some of the members will play a touch earlier than usual therefore allowing more space on the course in general at busier times. This will be trialled on Wednesday 18th May and Wednesday 25th May. I will then assess if it has been successful and communicate the results in June. If you can play earlier than 3pm, then please help out your fellow members by booking earlier to allow more members to play in the competition.

 

Reciprocal Golf 

So as most of you are aware, as members you can play Lytham Green Drive for a reduced rate… Well now the club has agreed another reciprocal deal with Bolton Golf Club.

On Thursday 19th May from 12pm to 2pm we will be hosting a short game testing clinic focussing on pitching and bunker shots. 

The clinic will be limited to 12 golfers with booking based on a first come first served basis. The cost of the clinic will be £10 per person and each attending golfer will receive a sleeve of three premium golf balls.
