Greetings golfers,
After watching Rickie Fowler win the HSBC championship in Abu Dhabi what did everyone think of his new 'high top' shoes and elasticated trouser combo? Is he moving with the times? Bringing golf to a new younger generation? Or is this not to your taste? Let me know what you think.
Regardless of what he was wearing; what a final round performance from Fowler to hold off the likes of Rory McIlroy, Thomas Pieters and Henrik Stenson. A holed bunker shot on the 17th hole gave him a little more comfort coming down the last after Rory made an unbelievable eagle moments earlier.
If that tournament is anything to go by, 2016 should be an amazing one in the world of golf. Add into the mix Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Justin Rose and hopefully sooner rather than later a fully fit Tiger Woods this year could be the best one yet for professional golf. On top of al that it is a Ryder Cup year and also golf will be included in the Olympics this year for the first time. What a year we have in store.
New Arrivals
We have been busy this week unpacking lots of new arrivals in the golf shop. January and February are traditionally a busy time for us as we prepare the shop for the upcoming season, we have already had new clubs from Callaway and TaylorMade, new bags from PING and new shoes from adidas and it's not even Friday yet. Bargains still to be had
You still have a few days left to grab a bargain in our winter sale. As many of you have already been in store and seen our winter sale has seen reductions of over 50% on some items. We still have some items in all sizes from small to XXL available and conveniently hung on size rails to make browsing easier for you.

Saturday's competition was reduced to 17 holes due to the 15th hole being shut half way through the competition.
Congratulations to Dave Fowler who had 45 points over 17 holes, a fantastic score and well deserved for Dave who has been working on his game more than I have seen him previously these last few months. It's nice to see him see the fruits of his labour and hopefully he will continue this into summer. Lucas Hargreaves continued his decent form over the last few months with 40 points just pushed out Brad Sarjantson on card play-off.
Members Away Trip

I have put on a members golf trip at the end of the winter, and if anyone is interested, here are the details:

Tee times:
Sunday 12.10pm 2 tee start & Monday from 10.30am (1st tee rolling start)
Dinner, Bed & Breakfast is £100 per person (based on 2 people sharing) and includes use of the leisure club and heated swimming pool. It also includes a £10 "buy in" into the competitions we will have over the weekend. (Formats to be confirmed). No transport provided, just make your own way there.
